Srinagar, Apr 04 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Saturday informed the Legislative Assembly that there is no shortage of doctors at Sub-District Hospital (SDH) RS Pura and Government Rajiv Gandhi Hospital, Gangyal, and that both institutions are functioning effectively with available manpower. Replying to a question raised by MLA Narinder Singh Raina, Health and Medical Education Department Minister Sakina Itoo as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that SDH R S Pura caters to a large population across the constituencies of R S Pura and Suchetgarh, including adjoining areas. Despite the high patient inflow, the hospital continues to deliver essential healthcare services with the manpower available against sanctioned posts. The Minister stated that all requisite facilities as per Sub-District Hospital level are available in the facility. “Patient load at Government Rajiv Gandhi Hospital, Gangyal, Jammu is also being managed efficiently,” she added. “There is presently no shortage of doctors in Sub-District Hospital R.S Pura and Government Rajiv Gandhi Hospital Gangyal,” the Minister said, adding that to further strengthen healthcare delivery, additional staff have been engaged under the National Health Mission (NHM). Itoo said that the government is actively working on filling vacant posts through recruitment agencies, rational deployment of available staff, and augmentation of infrastructure under various health sector initiatives. She informed that several key services, including OPD care, dentistry, physiotherapy, and laboratory facilities, are already operational at Rajiv Gandhi Hospital, Gangyal. These services are being delivered through medical officers and paramedical staff. The Minister also emphasized that any further expansion in infrastructure or services at these institutions will be undertaken in accordance with the Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) 2022 norms, ensuring that developments are aligned with the needs of the population in the respective catchment areas—(KNO)
